2013 Battle Tournament Recap

The 2013 Battle Tournament has come to an end. With it came a lot of thrilling matches, plenty of drama and a new sense of hope for more exciting, community driven events. It had been 7 years since the last Battle Tournament took place, a lot of things have changed since then but the desire for brutal, intense PvP isn't one!

The Lineage II team would like to thank all 32 teams that participated:

We had a chance to interview the 2013 Battle Tournament Champions, Team Immortal and see what they thought of the Battle Tournament.  Here’s what they had to say:

The last Battle Tournament was held back in 2006, youʼre the first Battle Tournament Champions since then. How do you feel about that?

The feeling is definately great. When the first tournament took place back in 2006,some of the people from our group were still lowbies, only able to watch and imagine how awesome it would be to be part of something like that. Some haven't even started playing the game.Others were actually there already, participating and fighting. The 2nd place back then belonged to our friends from Devianne, which is also something we can't forget !
And now, just like back in 2006 , today's battle tournament had a huge impact on most players of Lineage 2. Every team that had the chance to participate was determined to win and we are more than proud to be victorious ! Winning a tournament like this is always a reason to celebrate and feel proud. Getting there was definately not easy but we tried to do our best and we succeeded .

What was your strategy going into each match? Did it change according to your opponents at all?

Magicians do not hand out their techniques (Bliz) but I can say we had prepared for almost every possible occurrence during the fight, an answer to everything. Since the 1v1 lineup was not given to the opponent it was difficult to have a good strategy there.
We did some minor but definately important changes according to the opponent we 'd have to face at every match,  before but also during the actual game.We believe that the good results that we had were clearly based on the fact that we always worked as a team.Everyone was focused on each fight and the goal to win the tournament and tried to give our best under all circumstances.Even at difficult moments or after mistakes, we were all supportive to each other, instead of argueing ,we 'd try to encourage each other, try to be relaxed. We always knew that we had each other's back.By discussing everything clearly we managed to actually learn from our  mistakes and evolve our fighting strategy .

Which team was your greatest challenge and why?

Ever since our very first match for the tournament we never underastimated our opponents. We would focus on every match and  treat it with the same caution and importance as we would in the finals. After each match was done we 'd move to the next one and and treat it the same way.Every fight for us was a final. All our enemies were indeed very challenging groups and each game had its own difficulties. So we think it would have been wrong from our side to only refer to a certain team.

What were your thoughts on the Battle Tournament overall?

It was great to have a Battle Tournament again especially after being either excited just by the idea of the first one and for some of us actually being closely involved in it.Every match was a true stress but also great fun.
We really liked the general concept of the tournament even though it was different from the PvP we were used to meet in game.We believe that the basic rules really made it an event that gave everyone a fair chance to participate and win.
It 's true that we and other teams underwent some hick-ups in the Quarter Finals but we really appreciated the fact that NC did a very decent job in the matches that followed, the Semi Finals and Finals and made sure that the rules would no longer be abused or broken by any means .Of course there were things that could have gone better ,but there will always be problems in events like this .

Lastly, we 'd like to mention that we are hoping for a 3rd Battle Tournament so that we can have the chance to defend our title!
