PvP and Reputation

The Karma system has been removed from the game, and the Reputation system has been added to replace it. The Reputation system is a sliding scale in which positive levels make a character Lawful, and negative levels make a character Chaotic.

Chaotic characters:

  • A character is Chaotic when that character’s Reputation level is negative.
  • A Chaotic character’s name appears in red.
  • Every PK a Chaotic character performs gains that character a negative Reputation point.
  • When hunting and completing quests, Chaotic characters do not gain XP or SP, but they do gain Reputation points. This is the only way Chaotic characters can gain Reputation points. When a character is no longer Chaotic (when that character’s Reputation level reaches zero), hunting and completing quests give XP and SP but not Reputation points.
  • If a Chaotic character dies, that character’s Reputation points are not affected.
  • If a Chaotic character has a PK count of 31 or higher, the character receives an item drop penalty. As part of this penalty, augmented weapons will drop without the augmentation.
  • When a Chaotic character dies, that character loses more XP than a non-Chaotic character does.

Lawful characters:

  • A character is Lawful when that character’s Reputation level is positive.
  • When a Lawful character’s Reputation level is above zero, that character’s name appears in green.
  • When a Lawful character kills a Chaotic character, the Lawful character’s Reputation level increases by 360 points.
  • When a Lawful character kills a character who is 10 or more levels below the Lawful character, no Reputation points are gained even if the character killed is Chaotic.
  • A Lawful character can only receive Reputation points for killing the same Chaotic character once in any 8 hour period.
  • If a Lawful character’s PK count is 30 or lower, that character’s Reputation level will become zero if the character PKs again. At zero, a character is neither Lawful nor Chaotic.
  • If a Lawful character’s PK count is 31 or higher, that character will immediately become Chaotic and the character’s Reputation points become negative proportionally to PK count.

Characters who wish to lower their PK count can do so by spending Individual Fame points at a Reputation Manager NPC. The former method of lowering PK count through the Repent Your Sins quest has been removed from the game.

The arena for Duels and Party Duels has also changed.
