Level 20 - 38

The Newbie Quest Series continues after your First Class Transfer at level 20, taking you to your Second Class Transfer quest which begins at level 38.

Most quests in Lineage II have a level requirement in order to be able to accept the quest. Depending on how many players there are in the areas you’re questing in and how few monsters you have to kill in order to complete a Newbie Quest, it is possible that you may finish a quest in the series before being high enough level to accept the next one.

If you only have a little ways to go, say a few bars of XP, before reaching the necessary level, it’s simplest to just kill monsters nearby until leveling up. If you have a longer ways to go and killing nearby monsters seems to take too long, or if you simply prefer questing, we recommend doing Kamaloka quests with other players, or purchasing an XP-boost item from the L2 Store. For example, a single “Rune of XP 50% - 1 hour” item would be great to use when doing the Traces of Evil quest, and will help you get that extra boost you need to be ready for the final class transfer quest.

Newbie Quest Series, level 20 - 38:

Tough Road

Start NPC and Zone: Flame Lord Kakai in the Administration Office of Talking Island Village

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP

You’ve just completed your First Class Transfer and acquired D-grade items and equipment from your race master NPC in the Administration Office of Talking Island Village. Flame Lord Kakai, also in this room, has a new quest for you. Accept the Tough Road quest. You now need to travel to Gludio, a town on the main continent of the world.

To leave Talking Island, find the Gatekeeper in Talking Island Village by checking your map. Speak to her to travel to the town of Gludio. There, report in to Captain Bathis to complete the quest.

Disappeared Sakum

Start NPC and Zone: Captain Bathis in the town of Gludio

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP

Talk to Captain Bathis and accept the quest Disappeared Sakum. He asks you to find Guard Vent in Windmill Hill to begin searching for Sakum. (Sakum was the amorphous creature from your First Class Transfer quest, which disappeared before the boss fight.)

Before you leave town, make sure you have at least a few thousand D-grade Soulshot or Spiritshots, some Scrolls of Escape, and newbie buffs freshly applied by the Newbie Helper.

Talk to the Gatekeeper and go to Windmill Hill. Guard Vent is nearby where you zone in. Speak to him to update the quest. He asks you to do the following:

  • Kill 7 Langk Lizardmen in the field near Guard Vent. They are social-aggro, meaning that if you’re fighting one other Lizardmen nearby will come and attack you as well.
  • Kill 5 Vuku Orc Fighters in the field nearby Guard Vent. They will aggro you if you are nearby.
  • Collect 5 Suspicious Marks (quest items) from the spiders in the fields to the east. Venomous Spiders will aggro you. Poisonous Spiders are social-aggro.

While killing the Lizardmen and Orcs you will have a good opportunity to test out the Next Target action command. This can be found in the Actions window and dragged to your skill bar, making it easy to switch your target to the next closest monster when fighting a cluster or when moving. If using ranged attacks or magic skills,

Next Target works if the monsters are within the radius of the effect.
When you’ve done all of the above, go to Guard Schunain just south of the spider field. Speak to him to complete the quest.

Reporting the Status of Windmill Hill

Start NPC and Zone: Guard Schunain at Windmill Hill

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP, a random Unidentified D-grade weapon

Speak to Guard Schunain and accept the quest. He asks you to return to Gludio to report on the situation. You can either use a Scroll of Escape or run back to the Teleporter at the entrance to Windmill Hill a short ways to the northwest.

In Gludio, talk to Captain Bathis to complete the quest. He rewards you with Adena, XP, SP, and a random Unidentified D-grade weapon. If the weapon is not useful to your class, you can keep it Unidentified and sell it on the Auction House, or you can identify it and sell it along with other unused equipment at any vendor NPC.

Be sure to learn your new skills as you acquire them!

Request to Find Sakum

Start NPC and Zone: Captain Bathis in the town of Gludio

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP

Speak to Captain Bathis to accept the quest. He asks you to go to the Ruins of Agony to check on the situation there. Talk to the Gatekeeper to teleport to the Ruins of Agony, and talk to Guard Kallesin there. He asks you to kill the following monsters:

  • 10 Skeletal Trackers (aggro)
  • 10 Skeletal Bowmen (social aggro)
  • 15 Ruin Spartois (social aggro)
  • 15 Ruin Zombies or Ruin Zombie Leaders (social aggro)

Run north down the path to enter the Ruins of Agony and begin killing. Ruin Zombies and Ruin Zombie Leaders are just inside the gates. Keep track of your kill count in the notification window. After killing 15 zombies, continue north to the rest of the ruins. This area is pretty large and you will have to explore a bit to find the rest of the monsters.

Depending on how many other players are around, it may take a while to find and kill all the monsters you need for this quest. This is a good time to experiment with different weapons or skills and determine what works best for you.

When done killing all the monsters for the quest, your quest map tracker will update to a new location in the middle of the Ruins of Agony. Make your way over to the map marker and speak to Guard Zenath to complete the quest.

Remember, if you finish a quest in the Newbie Quest Series but the NPC doesn’t offer you the next quest in the series it is likely because you are not high enough level for it. If you talk to the NPC and click on the quest shown in red it will tell you what level you need to be in order to be eligible for it. Depending on how much XP you need to get there, consider killing monsters nearby until you level up, or going back to town to try a Kamaloka or other quest.

Divided Sakum, Kanilov

Start NPC and Zone: Guard Zenath in the Ruins of Agony

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP, 3 Scroll: Enchant Weapon (D-grade)

Speak to Guard Zenath to accept the quest. Apparently Sakum (that amorphous creature from the First Class Transfer quest cut scene) has divided itself into two separate monsters. Guard Zenath wants you to kill one of them, which can be found in the Ruins of Agony. Head south until you find Kanilov at the top of a small hill by some strange giant plants.

Kill him (very easy) then report back to Guard Zenath to update the quest. Use a Scroll of Escape to return to Gludio. There, find the Adventure Guildsman NPC outside the Blacksmith and speak to him to complete the quest. As a reward you receive Adena, XP, SP, and 3 D-grade Weapon Enchant Scrolls.

Enchant Scroll:Enchanting a weapon or armor raises the stats of the item and make it more effective in combat or defense. Most weapons and armor can be enchanted up to +3 with no problem, but if you try to go higher you risk losing all enchantment progress, or even the item itself, if the enchantment fails. Learn more about Enchanting in the Library.

Sakum’s Impact

Start NPC and Zone: Adventure Guildsman in Gludio

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP

Speak to the Adventure Guildsman in Gludio to accept the quest. Talk to the Gatekeeper and teleport to the Ruins of Despair. There, speak to Guard Silvan and he’ll ask you to kill the following monsters:

  • 10 Skeleton Warriors (social aggro)
  • 20 Ruin Imps (social aggro) or Ruin Imp Elders (aggro, and watch out for their Drain Health skill)
  • 25 Ruin Bats or Scavenger Bats (social aggro)

The Ruins of Despair is a bit smaller than the Ruins of Agony and these monsters are evenly scattered throughout the area. When done, follow your updated map tracker east and out of the walled-in area of Ruins of Despair. Find Guard Lef between the houses on top of the hill and speak to him to complete the quest.

At this point it’s likely you not quite high enough level to accept the next quest (you must be level 32). If this is the case, this is a good time to return to town and try out a Kamaloka quest.

Divided Sakum, Poslof

Start NPC and Zone: Guard Lef on a hill to the east of the Ruins of Despair

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP

Speak to Guard Lef to accept the quest. He asks you to kill the following monsters:

  • 20 Zombie Warriors (social aggro)
  • 23 Veelan Bugbear Warriors (aggro)

These monsters can be found in the fields surrounding the hill Guard Lef is on. Once you have killed all the monsters you need, report back to Guard Lef. He now asks you to kill Poslof, which is the monster found at the center of the Ruins of Despair town.

Kill him then return to Gludio by using a Scroll of Escape or the Teleporter to the north of the Ruins of Despair. In Gludio, speak to the Adventure Guildsman to complete the quest.

Traces of Evil

Start NPC and Zone: Adventure Guildsman in Gludio

Rewards: Adena, XP, SP

Talk to the Adventure Guildsman in Gludio to accept the quest. Travel to the Wastelands by speaking to the Gatekeeper. As always before leaving town, make sure you’re well-stocked with Scrolls of Escape and Soulshots or Spiritshots. In the Wastelands, talk to Guard Fred to update the quest.

Note: Guard Fred also offers another quest, Monster Uprising, but this quest is not a part of the Newbie Quest Series, is not required to complete, and asks you to kill different monsters that the Newbie Quest Series needs. This quest may be useful later, however, if you need to gain more XP in between quests in the series.

Guard Fred asks you to collect 20 Suspicious Fragments, which are a quest item. They can be found on a variety of monsters, which are all listed in the Quest window. To find the list, open your Quest window, click on the Traces of Evil quest then click on the Enraged Monsters step. In the right tab, scroll down past the quest description to find the list of monsters to hunt.

These monsters are found in the large area that is the central southern part of the Wastelands, which is north of Guard Fred. Depending on your class, some monsters may be easier for you to defeat than others. For example, Golems are not easily damaged by arrows, and Monster Eye Watchers are easily defeated from close-quarters melee attacks, but if they are attacked at range they will fight back with a powerful ranged damage skill.

The Suspicious Fragments will not drop at a 100% rate, so as you’ll be here for a while this is a good opportunity to explore your class’s effectiveness against different monster types.

Once you’ve gathered all the Suspicious Fragments, return to Guard Fred at the southern entrance to the Wastelands. He will tell you to speak to a certain NPC in Gludio; the NPC differs depending on your character’s race, but can generally be found in your race’s guild building in that town. Talk to the NPC to complete the quest.

The next and final quest in the Newbie Quest Series is the Certification of Fate. You must be level 38 to accept this quest from the race-specific NPC in Gludio that you spoke to when completing the Traces of Evil quest. Remember, if you’re not level 38 yet, this is a good time to experiment with Kamalokas or XP items from the NCoin store.

Continue to the Second Class Transfer quest, Certification of Fate.
