NCsoft NA Staff Chat at DarkMyst

[Ryan] I'd like to start off by thanking all of you for attending.

[Ryan] During this event, the channel will remain moderated. Please do not message the NCsoft staff during this time. Any questions you wish to be answered should be sent to any channel operator. We'll try our best to get them answered in the order they were received. At the end of the event, we'll unmoderate the channel for more casual discussion.

[Ryan] A number of wonderful NCsoft employees have taken their time to attend this event for all of you. I'd like to thank them for attending. I'll allow them to introduce themselves so everyone is familiar with who is who. :)

[AshNC] I'm Ash, the Community Coordinator for Lineage II. You can find me on the official forums at boards.lineage2.com.

[[NC]spam] Hi I am HGMspam. I am in charge of the Game Master team.

[TurnikusNC] I’m Turnikus, the producer of Lineage 2 here in North America and Europe.

[[NC]Miykael] I'm Miykael, the QA Community Coordinator.

[[NC]Miykael] You can also find me on the official forums at boards.lineage2.com but I do most of my work through support tickets.

[[NC]Ornery] I'm Ornery, QA Lead.

[Tisirin] Hi. I'm Tisirin. I'm the Community Relations Manager for NCsoft North America.

[Ryan] Question from Zander: Is it a graphic game, if so, what does it require to run, and does it cost to play?

[[NC]Ornery] Yes, Lineage II is a 3D graphical game. The minimum system specs are a P3 800 mhz 256 ram and a Geforce 2 or equivalent card. We recommend a 1.5 Ghz P3, 512 Mb of ram, and a GeForce 4 or equivalent.

[[NC]Ornery] There is a montly fee for the game, but the Chronicle updates (expansions) are free.

[Ryan] Question from Gimpy: Are you known about Linage2 Private servers and what do you think about them.

[TurnikusNC] We are aware of private servers and, of course, their usage is illegal. We act to stop these servers as we become aware of them and have noted that their function is always vastly inferior to the live service in both functions and support. Information on these servers is always appreciated.

[Ryan] Question from Leandi: Can you explain the announced PTS weekly 300% boost to XP/adena? i.e. Will it operate on the adena in your inventory? The total earned in the week?

[TurnikusNC] The weekly buff accounts for the difference in adena, XP, and SP from the previous week (it does not multiply the total). This is to reward players for pushing their character’s progress forward.

[Ryan] Question from LeNoX: What are Antaras stats?

[AshNC] A lot higher than yours. ;)

[Ryan] Question from smirnoFFz: What are you going to do about the GM's being payed by farmers/botters to keep them from being banned?

[TurnikusNC] This is paranoid absurdity. Our GMs fight absurdly hard to remove this type of exploitation from the game. Clearly, our recent progress at blocking this type of activity proves this point.

[TurnikusNC] Of course, if you have any clear information, please send it along.

[Ryan] Question from Sklz711: With the first Lineage dominating the Asian market almost entirely, Lineage 2 is now facing more competition from other games branching further into the overseas market (Such as World of Warcraft), how do you think this will effect the second generation Lineage game's market penetration as a whole?

[AshNC] Any good MMOG will bring more people into the pool of MMOG players - which will make them more likely to try out our titles in the long run. So we think a healthy MMO market is a good thing for everyone.

[Ryan] Question from SweetChoch: For the PTS, how will B and A-grade items be obtainable? will B-grade or A-grade items be buyable from a shop since even with increased rates it will take too long to craft b/a Items?

[[NC]Ornery] We currently don't have plans to have B and A grade items sold from an NPC, but if our testing needs change this may also change in the near future.

[Ryan] Question from SweetChoch: Did you decide which distribution method you would use to deliver Chronicle 3 to live servers (either all-in one download with server downtime or incremental overtime downloads) and if you chose the latter, when will the incremental downloads being?

[AshNC] We'll be going with the all-at-once download method. We did appreciate the players' feedback on the download method, and we followed up accordingly based on the results. What we found, though, was that the partial-over-time method was less feasible than originally thought, so we opted for all-at-once.

[Ryan] Question from Soda: Will there be any way to bypass the class change quests in the C3 test server?

[[NC]Miykael] No, we need to test those as well, and remember we're also localizing this project. The quest interface received a drastic overhaul and it's important that we test every aspect of that overhaul.

[Ryan] Question from Jukan: Is there going to be Drop increases and xp and sp increases in Chronicle 3?

[[NC]Ornery] There will only be increases on the public test server for Chronicle 3.

[Ryan] Question from Jukan: Are you planning on any kind of publicity for the new release of Chronicle 3 in Game Magazines or something like that to get more new players?

[TurnikusNC] We will be pushing a new online campaign for Chronicle 3(no mags this time) and we will be showing this year at E3.

[Ryan] We are approaching the end of the queue of questions... If there are any further questions, please message a channel operator.

[Ryan] Question from Nafarion: It's known that many players don't want to play the "Gimp" characters such as Temple Knights, Swordsingers, etc.. on the game servers and may not want to play them on the test server. If so, do you test those classes personally or request players to do it ?

[[NC]Ornery] All classes and races receive equal testing time.

[Ryan] Question from Claw: will there be a prima guide for C3? or maybe another way to get dropinfo to the players?

[AshNC] We're working on a guide with Prima that is inclusive of Chronicles 2 and 3. We understand the demand for this information is very high.

[Ryan] Question from Silviera: Are there any plans to extend the landmass of the game in future Chronicles? Particularly continents such as Elmore that do receieve much attetion as of now.

[AshNC] There are plans to expand the playable areas within the game in future chronicles, but we can't go into further details yet.

[Ryan] Question from sYxJesters: Why is the deletion time after you delete a character so long? Are you going to lower it?

[[NC]spam] The 7 day deletion time for characters was used to protect characters from accidental and malicious deletions. We understand the hard work that goes into leveling a character and to have it permanently deleted on accident or because of a rash decision would be terrible.

[Ryan] Question from Jukan: Do you guys think you will be doing more events regularly, and are you planning anything special for the relese of Chronicle 3?

[TurnikusNC] We will be seeing an increase in events (though you’ll have to wait to find out what we’re planning for the anniversary and Chronicle 3 launch). There is now a dedicated group here in North America specifically for creating and scheduling in-game events.

[Ryan] That'll wrap it up. I'd like to thank the NCsoft staff and everyone for attending. We hope to offer future events on DarkMyst. We'll be unmoderating the channel now for an open chat.
